Elizabeth Chatel, MA, LMFT
Licensed Therapist
Elizabeth Chatel has been working with young children and families since 2008. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University. From the very beginning of her career, Liz has combined clinical expertise with creativity, warmth, and a deep belief in the resilience of families.
Liz began her career in community services in Stratford, Connecticut, and then at Mid-Fairfield Child Guidance Center in Norwalk, where she developed therapeutic group curricula for children in the extended day treatment program. Liz also facilitated parenting support programs using the ScreamFree Parenting model. Her work has consistently focused on helping families build stronger, more connected relationships.
Grounded in Family Systems Theory, Liz believes that change in one family member can positively impact the entire system. She works with families in a variety of configurations, including sibling sessions, parent coaching, and multigenerational family work, often focusing on strengthening structure, boundaries, and clarifying connecting communication within the home.
Liz uses an integrative approach that includes Structural Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Known to many as “Fun Liz,” she brings humor and playfulness into her sessions. Liz is especially passionate about supporting families navigating ADHD, helping them gain insight, implement practical tools, and embody confidence.
